ARTIST’S STATEMENT
As a British/American artist residing in the UK, I’m most recognized for my iconic environmental protest mural, “Pinkeye,” featuring a colossal eye shedding a tear, crafted in 1999.
Throughout my career, I’ve explored a diverse array of subjects and mediums, including acrylics, watercolors, pastels, charcoal, and digital art. This versatility not only broadens my artistic scope but also enables me to adapt seamlessly to various mediums and techniques.
Raised amidst challenging circumstances, I’ve cultivated a sense of discipline and focus that underpins my artistic endeavors. It’s this resilience and determination that empower me to pursue my passion and create meaningful art despite any obstacles encountered along the way.
BIO
Pinkeye99’s artistic journey began at the tender age of sixteen, fueled by a childhood fascination sparked at just five years old, watching painters paint his classroom walls. With a heart divided between sports and art, he honed his craft through years of dedication sketching, painting, and the occasional still life class, evolving into a largely self-taught artist.
Venturing into mural painting, he boldly approached the local art college, seeking permission to paint their walls with his creativity—a request met with a resounding yes. As his brush danced across the walls, his passion spoke volumes, leaving even the seasoned art tutor in awe saying you would have thought your the first person ever to paint!
For Pinkeye99, the thrill lies in the grandeur of large-scale murals, where each stroke brings forth a metamorphosis that never fails to astonish. To witness the alchemy of a mere tin of paint, transforming vast spaces into vivid expressions of imagination, is a joy that continues to inspire and drive his artistic endeavors to this day.
